fashion in the expanded field

Matilda Forssblad is a fashion designer and PhD candidate in fashion design at the Swedish School of Textiles, University of Borås. She is interested in how fashion is experienced, both as an individual everyday practice, and how experiences of fashion are shared between people. In her work, fashion takes on various forms through categories such as photography, object, interior, installation, product, garment, and text. The work often expresses a humorous witticism, unveiling the complexity of the seemingly banal- where language, text and images are key components.

Through her practice and research she wants to (re)frame fashion - as a daily practice, as experience, as product, as publishing, as narrative - where fashion is seen as a site for critical thinking and intellectual exchange.
